Glossybox December 2012 Review

Hey everyone,

I've subscribed myself to my first monthly subscription box called Glossybox. Each month you get a beautiful box with a minimum of five luxury beauty products like lotions, make up, and perfume. Most of the products you get are miniature sized but sometimes you also get full-sized products! The contents of your products differs depending on how you fill in your beauty profile when you subscribe so it is possible that you get a different color or even a completely different product compared to someone else who has a different beauty profile. It is available in more than 15 countries. I'm not sure which countries are participating but you can find the US Glossybox website here and the Dutch Glossybox website here. The price and contents of these boxes are different per country. In the Netherlands it's 15 EUR per month and in the US it's $21 USD per month.  I'll be reviewing the December 2012 Dutch Glossybox.

This is how the package looked like when it arrived through the mail. I really like that you can even tell from the outside that it's from Glossybox. It's a bit smaller than I've expected. I thought it would be the size of a shoebox but I think it's half the size of that.

Inside the package there was a really beautiful silver box and the Glossy Magazine.

When I opened the box, there were two testers and a candy cane on top. The rest of the contents were wrapped inside a cute black wrapper with stars and a silver bow. Normally, there should be a card with all the information of the contents on the top too. I emailed Glossybox and they kindly provided the card through a .PDF file. I'll get into more detail about the products later in the post.

I really was surprised when I opened the wrappings, there were four full-sized products in the box and one miniature product!

The first product is a full-sized black crackle nail polish from Golden Rose called Graffiti. I already own a blue version of this polish. I like it but I'm kind of disappointed too that of all the people, a nail polish addict like me is getting a black crackle lol. I've seen other people who have gotten metallic crackles and even OPI crackle polishes! And I also find it very strange to get a crackle polish because who is still using crackles these days!? Lol well.. at least it cracks beautifully just like the other one I already own. I used a thin coat on my ring finger and a thicker coat on my thumb over Essie - Bikini So Teeny. According to the information card, the price of this polish is 6.95 EUR

The second product is a full-sized shower gel from the brand Anatomicals, called The Showering Inferno. According to the product information, it is a shower gel that consists of a mix of aloë vera, hazelnut and peppermint oil. It softens and cleanses the skin and leaves a fresh and subtle scent. I've tried this product and I can't smell these things at all lol. To me it kind of smells like Coca-Cola. It reminds me a lot of a shampoo called "Bubble Joe Kids" which had a coke scent. It is a nice smell but not something that I would ever go for, I don't feel my skin being any softer than usual. It doesn't foam either so I will not buy this product when I see it again. The prize of the full-sized product is 3.99 EUR

The next things that were in the box are two scents, a miniature-sized eau de parfum from Swarovski called Aura. The bottle is really beautiful and has a Swarovski Crystal on top. The scent is a fusion of amber, benzoin, and white musk. I don't like the scent, it is the typical scent when you walk into a perfume store, which is just not for me. The price of a 30 ml bottle is 56.96 EUR.

The next scent is am eau de toilette tester for men from the brand Azzaro called Chrome. The scent has citrus notes, white musks, green and aquatic notes. My boyfriend tried it and he thought it was too citrus-ey, which made the smell too feminine for him. The price of a 50 ml bottle is 48.80 EUR.

The next product is a full-sized Glossybox by Kryolan Blusher in the color Glossy Pink. This color is specially made by Kryolan for Glossybox. I rarely wear blusher because my cheeks are very pink by themselves so I like bronzers more. The color is also too pink for my taste. I have a swatch but I've forgotten to take a picture of the blush itself sorry :( I gave it too someone else already but you can see it with the other stuff in the box. The price of this product is 12.90 EUR

The next full-sized product is Hannah - 24-hour Skin Balancing Crème (10 ml). I love love love love this product! I use it for my handsa and arms and my skin feels so soft now. The crème has a nice consistency and the smell is sooo good. It reminds me of the scent of baby products. The 24-hour kin Balancing Crème is available starting from 10 ml for 9 EUR. I don't know where to buy this but if I see this again I will definitely buy it again!

The final product that was in the box is Kérastase - Elixir Ultime. You can use this on your hair to make it soft and shiney. It consists of four exceptional oils; camellia, argan, maize and praxaxi. It is suitable for all hair types. I have no idea what those things do to my hair but it sounds fancy lol.You can use this before using shampoo or just by itself when your hair is dry without rinsing. I like to use this as an anti-frizz because my hair can be very static and frizzy during the winters but I dont feel a difference in my hair being fluffier than usual. It is more shiny of course but that is expected since it consists of oils. The price for a 125 ml bottle is 37.10 EUR. I think it will last very long but I don't think I will buy this product again.

Overall, I did enjoy some products of this box. I think it was a lot of products for only 15 EUR, definitely worthwhile. There were some things like the blush that I absolutely didn't like but the fun part is that you can make other people happy who do appreciate it. I can't wait for the January box!  And the most fun part is that I can use the boxes to store my polishes in! I used this months box for all my Catrice polishes.

What do you think about this box? Do you have a subscription for this one or other boxes? Let me know in the comments!
